Bio (July 2008)

The multi-talented Shari Albert is an accomplished actress, voice artist and published writer living in New York and Los Angeles.
On screen and stage she has worked with many celebrities and ground-breaking directors. Perhaps best known for her work in
“The Brother’s McMullen” (Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-Winner) directed by Edward Burns. Shari played Susan, the
jilted fiancée of the youngest brother. Shari continues a fulfilling and creative relationship with Ed Burns. She most recently played
‘Tina’ the wife of Matthew Lillard in 2006 film, “The Groomsmen” where she starred alongside John Leguizamo, Brittany Murphy
and Donal Logue. Shari has appeared on international stages at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris, France with the classic musical,
“Hello Dolly!” and in 2007 Shari starred in the West Coast Premiere of “Modern Orthodox” in Los Angeles.

Shari started her burgeoning writing career with a one-woman show, “Cookin’ With Shari”, a musical culinary adventure. She
performed her show in New York at the Triad Cabaret and Dillon’s to rave reviews and sold out houses. Since then she has gone
on to be a freelance writer for the LA Weekly contributing as a humorist as well as a fashion writer. She also blogs about relationships,
sex and dating for the Huffington Post.com’s “Living Now” section.

As an accomplished vocalist, Shari has also worked with some of the best musical directors in New York including Ron Melrose and
Joseph Church. Shari has also lent her versatile voice to countless television and radio commercials, Television Narrations, and
cartoons. Shari is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Circle in the Square Theatre Conservatory as well
as the Philadelphia High School of Performing Arts.

Shari is the proud best friend of Sydney, a Lhasa Apso who generously allows Shari to live in her apartment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The most comfortable place in the world for Shari Albert is behind a microphone. Shari has been an extremely successful voice over artist since the age of 12.
As a Theatre major attending NYU, she had her agents schedule her bookings around her final exams. Since then she has performed in hundreds upon hundreds
of commercials on Television and Radio. She has also lent her textured, sassy voice in the narration of Television Series such as “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?”
and “Meet The Royals”. Shari has one of the most versatile voices in the business, which is why she has also been very successful in animation. She has played
every type of character from slacker girls, surly young boys, sexy models, old women, glasses of champagne, cute animals and fruit… to name a few. She also has
appeared on many Video Game DVDs. Shari’s distinctive voice and original delivery plus outstanding comedic timing has made her a leading player in the voice over
industry for the past twenty years.

Theatrically, Shari has been a performer of impressive quality since a very young age. She has trained classically both at the Performing Arts High School
in Philadelphia and at the world renown NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has also studied at the Circle in the Square Conservatory. Her ability to be as
natural as she is funny in all mediums charms audiences and critics alike.

As a ‘triple threat’ in musicals such as ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘Cookin’ With Shari’ (her own one-woman show that she wrote and produced), or in on stage in
dramas and comedies in Los Angeles and New York, she always stands out as a crowd favorite. Her energy and pathos is infectious and her portrayal of
a vast array of characters establishes her as an accomplished character actress..

Shari’s versatility gets a chance to shine in Film and on Television as well. She has been a lead in features such as the 1995 Sundance Grand Jury Prize
Winning film, ‘The Brother’s Mc Mullen’, and in the 2006 feature ‘The Groomsmen’ plus appearances in a plethora of other Independent and Studio Features.
On Television Shari has sharpened her comedic skills as well as her dramatic chops in such shows as ‘Law and Order’, ‘The King of Queens’, ‘Six Degrees’
and many more.

Shari is also an strong singer and will dance if asked nicely.

Shari started writing in 2003 with her one-woman-show, ’Cookin’ With Shari’ that she performed at the Triad Cabaret and at Dillon’s in New York to
critical acclaim.  She then combined her love of fashion and words with her intimate, first person articles in the LA Weekly’s La Vida Section.  Shari then
branched off to write for the Considerable Town section with slice of life essays finding the ridiculous in otherwise negative circumstances.  Her Huffington
Post blog in the Living Now section focuses on her love life and the innate humor that lies within matters of the heart.  Her forte is shedding light on the
humor in humanity and how we communicate with one another.
